David,

Thanks for the help. I found the file and did have some success making a log file. I only got log production when I put the log setting on 4. I emailed the output to you, but all of the output was debug information. Let me know if you see anything that might be helpful. I looked through it, but most of it looked like greek to me and what i did understand didn't point me to a problem.

Thanks,
nub

David,

Thanks for the support. Somehow my chosen admin username did not get created in the db. I could log in as admin using the magic password and so I did and then changed the password. THANK YOU!!

I did remember to change magic back to "false"

Thanks for the help,
nub

Glad it worked out for you. Hmmm, you are the second person mentioning a similar problem and had to use the magic password trick. I suspect something is not right with the installation in certain environments. We had tested the installation so many times and it always worked perfect for us. I am going to take a look into it...

Initial DB errors

Postby mttaggart » October 28th, 2011, 12:45 pm

David,

Thanks, first of all, for this software and support. The last solution you posted was applicable to me as well.

I have also found that, immediately after installation and initial setup, that I cannot access certain areas of the admin console. Category, Config, Grade, and School all produce a dialog saying "An error has occurred while accessing the server." When I set the log threshold to 1, I get an error message of my timezone not being set. So I went into php.ini and uncommented the date.timezone() setting and set it for 'America/New_York.' I am new to PHP and unsure if this syntax is correct. Nevertheless, the problem remains, even after a reinstall.

I am running an Apache Webserver with PHP 5.3.4 on a Mac Snow Leopard Server.

Suggestions?

There was someone else who sent me emails about a similar problem with some of the admin buttons would return an error message but I never got any information with the log file. From what you mentioned, I think I know what the problem is. I actually put in special code to get around this famous timezone issue in PHP 5.3 but I guess it didn't work. I will take a look at this issue and put in a fix in the next TODCM release which will be ready in couple weeks.

For now, you can try put the following line in the TODCM config.php file (the location/line-number is not significant) from the top website directory:
$config['cms_timezone'] = 'America/New_York';

For other time zones: http://php.net/manual/en/timezones.php

Please read the installation document from the site. It is best to have someone with PHP and MySQL experience to perform the installation.
