I'm using Safari on OSX 10.7 (LION) and attempting to view the documentation results in the message

It appears you don't have Adobe Reader or PDF support in your web browser.

OSX supports pdf viewing natively and usually pdfs are loaded in safari directly. Not sure why Safari can't display the pdf files (and Firefox can)
Unless the page uses some plugin to display the contents that doesn't recognize Safari.

Can you open this PDF doc from Safari: http://todcm.org/notes/ReleaseNotes1110.pdf? If not then you should try to rebuild your Mac OS. If yes then we have to continue hunting...

This is a weird problem and as you mentioned Safari has native PDF support. We don't have OS X Lion yet in our office (planning for an upgrade soon from Snow Leopard) and we can't duplicate the issue. I am going ask one of our customers who is running OS X Lion and see if she has the same problem or not.
